New Recruit Registration

Please read through this entire page carefully, as there are important steps for you to complete prior to registration.

Information Session

There will be a mandatory in-person information and orientation session for parents/guardians on September 9th and 11th, 7:00pm at the Poppy Residences (5291 Grimmer St, Burnaby, BC V5H 0B3). Parents/guardians are only required to attend one of the two sessions.

Location and Date

New recruits, along with one parent/guardian, who live in the following areas are to attend registration on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Marlborough Elementary School (6060 Marlborough Ave, Burnaby, BC V5H 3L7).

  • In Burnaby: North of Imperial and Kingsway
  • In Vancouver: North of 54th and 57th Avenues
  • In New Westminster: North of 10th Avenue and McBride Blvd

New recruits, along with one parent/guardian, who live in the following areas are to attend registration on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Nelson Elementary School (4850 Irmin Street, Burnaby, BC V5J 1Y2).

  • In Burnaby: South of Imperial and Kingsway
  • In Vancouver: South of 54th and 57th Avenues
  • In New Westminster: South of 10th Avenue and McBride Blvd

To avoid congestion, we have dedicated time slots for you to register, corresponding to the last name of the new recruit. Please arrive within your designated time window.

  • Surname starting with A-K: 6:30 pm
  • Surname starting with L-R: 7:15 pm
  • Surname starting with S-Z: 8:00 pm

Required Documents

Please ensure that you print, fill out, and bring all of the following documents with you:

  1. Membership Application from the Online Registration Tool. Once the application has been submitted electronically, you will receive an email with an “Application Summary” in the body of the email; this is not the Membership Application (do not print this out). Once the squadron staff complete a preliminary review of your application, you will receive an email entitled as “Registration Form” with a PDF attachment; print out and bring the PDF attachment (typically around 8-9 pages).
  2. Proof of legal residency in Canada. This can be a valid Canadian passport, Canadian birth certificate, landed immigrant, permanent resident, or citizenship card.
  3. Proof of health insurance. This can be a valid BC Services Card or private health insurance.
  4. Squadron Sponsoring Committee forms. Complete the steps as instructed here.

To be eligible to join cadets, the applicant must:

  • have already turned 12 years old by time of registration, and have not turned 19;
  • be a legal resident of Canada; and
    Note: A legal resident of Canada is a Canadian citizen, a landed immigrant, or, the dependant of a person who is lawfully resident in Canada on a temporary basis for the purpose of education or employment.
  • provide proof of provincial health insurance coverage or equivalent.

What if I’m unable to make it to my assigned registration night?

If you are unable to attend the assigned registration session, attend on an alternate night (September 9 and 16 at Marlborough Elementary, September 11 and 18 at Nelson Elementary). After September 18, 2025, registration applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
